Description
Oil painting of a market scene in front of church buildings - the Saint-Pol-de-Léon cathedral. The church is bathed in bright sunlight. The stall holders have a variety of white awnings and red umbrellas. Numerous people are shown at the market with a smaller grouping in the foreground, in the shade cast by buildings out of sight. The closest figure is a woman with her back to the viewer and her hands on her hips. To her left is a wooden wheelbarrow and in front her her are some green vegetables on the ground. The ground is a pale ochre coloured dirt, very similar colour to the church buildings behind.
