About the Work
A war artist, this is one of the few non-WWII related works by Ted Lewis in the Sarjeant Gallery Collection. The still life was probably done at Leigh Treadwell's house on the corner of Liverpool St and Victoria Ave. Leigh taught craft at Whanganui Tech. Ref: conversation with M. Davidson 13/3/2018

Description
Watercolour painting of a still life scene showing an arrangement of ceramic and glass vases and bottles with glass tumblers around. Behind the grouping and inside the ceramic vase are foliage and fruit from a passionfruit vine. The fruit is still green, smooth and round. Placed on a brown surface with white wall behind, showing shadows cast by the foiage. Mainly painted in green tones with one purple glass bottle at the centre.
