Description
Jeffrey Harris’ Ring Her Name with Roses seems inviting at first glance but to encounter the un-nerving details of the work takes us on a journey into the artists headspace. On the work of Jeffrey Harris, curator William McAloon commented in 1999
“Apparently autobiographical, Harris’s paintings were snapshots of psychological moments. They featured alienated figures in grief-stricken relationships playing out their dramas against bleak New Zealand landscapes of the dark interiors of Harris’s imagination.”
William McAloon in 'Home and Away: Contemporary Australian and New Zealand Art from the Chartwell Collection' p104, Auckland Art Gallery and David Bateman Publication 1999.
- Greg Donson, extended label text for the exhibition 'Surface Tension', Sarjeant Gallery, 2009.
