Like the work of Nigel Brown, Robin White’s images bear the unmistakable imprint of Colin McCahon. These monochromatic and geometric landscapes are infused with mood and text that owe much to the teaching of McCahon. Working in a serial form, using quotes from popular rhymes and in their conscious engagement with New Zealand’s unique landscape, White’s works use the monumentality of McCahon’s paintings and replicate it on a more intimate scale.
