About the Work
This image shows Frank Denton with his three daughters Mary and twins Dulcie & Marjorie riding in a horse drawn governess cart. Frank Denton's first wife Laura, the mother of the 3 girls, was once driving the cart with her twin babies inside a basket on the cart when the basket fell off the back of the cart. The girls were not injured. The horse's name is John Gilpin and he was brought down to Whanganui from Laura's family in the Bay of Islands.
