About the Work
"Robert Maunsell, of Rumbo House, East Indies, and a member of Council at Madras; his eldest daughter Anna m. 20 Mar 1805 Eyre Evans of Ash Hill Towers, Co. Limerick: their 3rd son Major George Thomas Evans (late 47th Reg.) m.1841 Louisa Barbara Corry. They brought their family to Oamaru in 1865. Their eldest son Eyre Frederick Fitzgeorge Evans m. Charlotte Lees 14 April 1868. Their eldest son Percy Evans born at Clooneavin, near Oamaru 15 Sept 1871 came to Wanganui 1902. m. Apr.25 1916 Ethel Margaret Dickson.
This portrait of the great-great-grandfather of Percy Evans is given to the Sarjeant Art Gallery in his memory by his daughters Jean Charlotte Bauld and Margaret Lees Dewe."
