About the Work
These 'Rehua' works which I have been calling "heat-prints" are thermographs. They are made by "drawing" with a heat-gun used for paint-stripping. Metal objects are laid on top of a Gestetner mastering sheet, and the hot air from the gun is blown over it. The wax and carbon melt together producing negative and positive versions of each image.
Here in Wanganui I experienced great kindness and wish to dedicate these works to Rehua/ - god of the ninth heaven/ - goddess of ultimate compassion & human kindness/ - the sun.
