About the Work
I drew from road. The subject was exciting. This drawing [is] the prep for a large painting. Later I got a phone call from a person connected with [the] church who found my painting a bit insulting to all [the] restoration + repairs recently done. I explained that my wobbly depiction was my style [and] not in the least disrespectful. They seemed okay in the end. As a symbolist I relate instantly to religious traditions although I am not religious. I like symbols as a way of communicating.
