About the Work
Carts pulled by two or more dogs were historically used in Belgium and the Netherlands as well as Victorian England for delivery of milk, bread and other trades. Carts pulled by a single dog were often used by peddlers, as in this image from the Edith Collier Trust archive. It is not known if Edith took this photograph herself or where it is located.
