My dear Edith
I intended writing to you before this but left your letter at Uncle Freds so didnt remember the address you gave me.
How are you getting on down South, has the war made any difference to you We stayed in [illeg.] a week and saw all the Uncles Auntys & Cousins and we like them all very much we had nearly two day [illeg.] and were supposed to be going back this Saturday but having such weather we decided to do the Lakes and then come on to Scotland. Aunt Ada came with us as far as Aunt Edith we left her and have now got as far as Carlisle expect to reach Edinburgh tonight. Re your umbrella I hope you have bought another by this time I will pay you for [illeg.] I thought it [illeg.] get broken if we posted it.
Are you quite safe away down there or do you intend returning so let us know when, we will be in Edinburgh about a week or perhaps a little longer. Kindest love to you from us all
