About the Work
TRANSCRIPTION:
to hapless [illeg.] – or at least she did do until we all blew her sky high. As long as we sympathised she gave in & wept day & night. How she sees she will have to manage to control herself or we shall all be driven dotty. The house is desolate without him – the piano & cello not touched & his books all tidy – but oh dear; those awful few weeks [illeg.] are wishing him back again. I think he will long be remembered with affection by those who know his kindly character.
I am back at work, & so glad to have got a job I love so much – apart from [illeg.]. I am not making a fortune but can keep myself which is a blessing in these hard times!
Tell me how you have fared, I often think about you. It must have been a historic meeting! & what changes there would be. I hear you found two nieces to welcome you
