My dear old Collier
Thanks very much for your card you were a lazy old thing not writing to me, if I was a really savage nature I’d send you a card instead of writing a nice lady like letter. By the way Amy’s address is;-
Box 29
Grahamstown
South Africa
If you forget the box part Grahamstown would be enough, Margery Hastings used to call it our loose box! We live out of the postmans beat & so have to fetch our letters ourselves. She said the other day that she would like to hear from you. I hear from Eileen Mackinnon nearly every week its wonderful the way she has kept up writing regularly, she is going in for farming now & does all sorts of scientific thing like blasting holes for rose trees! Can’t you imagine her doing it?
We are here in Garstin’s class & are doing a lot of work, it will always be the disappointment of my life that I didn’t go to Irland, still I may be able to do so next year if I am still in this here frail mortal flesh
How is small de Grey behaving, poor Collier it must be a harassing (how do you spell it?) time for you having an imp like goblin like that making hay of all your quiet moments! We are going to be here for another fortnight & then go to Eastcote where an uncle has a lot to do with a V.A.D. hospital, we will help there as far as we are able until we deem it time for our return to the common task, namely the wood, I’ve got so many new ideas I’m longing to try them on the models. After Christmas we are keen on going to Caldrows for a bit, it would be no end of help knowing something of animals, I can’t say what will happen after that, I expect my fond relations will be shouting for me to go back again, how much longer are you going to be here? Amy says she wishes that you would go round by the Café & land there for a time.
Love to you both
