Dear Ed.
Very pleased As got your note and enclosing cheque for £ [illeg.] which I borrowed. I am waiting for my medical [illeg.] which is overdue if passed fit. The wing colonel has a job for me down at [?Hythe illeg.] as a pilot of machines on a gunnery [?course] that means to say I pilot a machine while another man fires at a flying target. Course you never know when these jobs are closed so possibly it may gone by when the board decides on me Love & kisses

Description
Photocopy of a one page note to Edith Collier from her brother Harry. The note is handwritten ink on paper and is dated September 5, 1917. The paper has a header with ‘Royal Flying Corps’ and its coat of arms on it. He thanks Edith for her note and an enclosed cheque for 10 pounds that he borrowed. He says he is waiting for his medical and describes a job he will be doing, piloting a plane while a gunner fires at a target.
