Dear Edith,
I am very sorry I am unable to get up to see you & Hal, as I am going over to France on Tuesday or thereabouts which we did not expect so soon.
Well Edith Baddeley Holdaway & I are sending up some clothing to you in a bag, hang the coats & pants, up anywhere, & anything that I want you can send over to me such as cigarettes odds & ends & a few lollies etc socks. I hope you don’t have to go back before the winter & if you do would Mrs Proctor mind keeping it & leave the money with Fannie & she could send anything that is wanted.
I sent you a telegram this morning (Saturday) saying I was going to France, but they say it will be delayed for a few days also one to Uncle Fred. Will you write to Uncle Fred & Aunt Ada & Marion as they have given such little notice in all probability it will be tomorrow night & wont [sic] have time to write, also Popsie as she asked me to leave my address with her its very good of her to send so many things to me. According to last letter from home Harry will be a long time yet & he will have to do a lot of training hear [sic] & rough weather is now coming on.
Well Edith there is nothing much more to say, my leave was again cancelled after paying my fare, tell them all that I hadn’t time to write & remember me to them all
will close now with kind regards to Hal with much love & kisses to yourself
I remain
Your Loving Brother
