My Dear Edith,
We received two letters, one for father & I, the other for the girls, thank you for the [illeg. grass it is very pretty, I gave the enclosed letter to Mrs [illeg.] on Sunday morning at church. I suppose Sylvia & Stephen will be married by now, it always gives me a pain to think about the match, it is a mistake to mary [sic] a foreigner, I hope money doesn’t play a prominent part in her choice else she will regret it, before long, it will be a great sell to them if he is not so well off as they imagine, it seemed strange he should be taking a small house for a year
Harry is away up at Kahura just now he is waiting for the call to camp, it maybe a long time or it may be soon.
I hope you won’t be gelling superstitious living with the Irish folk you know it is very infections, you still make the same mistake in your spelling of hospital, (not hospitable) it is altogether different. You must be

course the choir should have sung, he seems to do a dream like yourself at odd moments.
Mrs Pepper & Gordon are staying here at present it is a change for her to get away from the mud up at [illeg.]. The time is spinning round for you to come back, I suppose you will be quite sorry to leave when the time comes, I can imagine you rushing round London, leaving everything till the last, I must send you some money especially for a few presents for friends, I know you would like to bring something back, especially for Grandma, a black silk shawl or something useful. She is very well again. I have just been ringing up Mrs Russell asking his [illeg.] address as you said you would send him some papers she seemed very delighted at the kind thought of your noble self – if ever he comes to England, I hope you will make an effort to see him through the “High Commissioner” and take him something from me. George Littlejohn is in hospital in England, Him & Alf L. have enlisted for service also so they are doing their part. You never say anything about Miss McPhearson is she still with you as teacher.
With much love from all
Your loving Mother E.C.
