Dear Edith
I am just writing you a few lines wishing you a happy birthday & many of them as a little token of love. I am sending you a money order for one pound which you may cash at the place mentioned on the P.O.O I was up at your mothers on Sunday with Mifs [Miss] Carly I was so pleased to hear that you had spent such a happy Xmas with your Uncle & family & that you did so well with your exam. I am sure we all feel quite proud of you getting on so well & your mother seems so happy now you have settled down so comfortable & are getting on so nicely. Mifs [Miss] Horton left me last Wednesday she was not very suitable so I was pleased when she left for no one seemed to like her. Your Aunt Emma has been down to Wellington for the last three weeks with the children her girl & are having a grand time at the seaside I am expecting your Uncle Syd in on Saturday so I hope he brings your Aunt Annie with him Your Uncle Frank & Mary send their love to you. We had Charlie Morgan & Maud here last week Gertie is going to open a private hospital in Inglewood & I hope she will do well. I remain ever your loving Grandma
