Dear Mother & Father
I am over in Bonmahon Ireland the same village that I came to last year. I came over with Miss de Grey a St John’s Wood student she plays the cello & has brought it here Miss Ayliff is coming over later on In the morning I do landscape & afternoon portrait: there are grand models here & very cheap, they think it is wonderful to be painted de Grey & I are going to paint them outside later on when it gets a bit warmer I carefully packed a picture to send to you (framed & then found it was too big to go in a piano case but I have sent a charcoal head instead
Crowds of soldiers came over on the boat, they had a few days off there were four in our car they were Welsh & one poor chap who had recently been out for the first time & got flustered over the trains went miles or hours further on than he meant to, & didn’t the guard give him a scolding pretty good I thought when the soldier was fighting for him All the villages are full of soldiers in England.
I picked some primroses for you they grow wild here violets too. I posted a tray cloth Adelina to you I didn’t know her address I sent one to Muriel a much better one
All the old souls here came up & shook your hand & said welcome back to old Ireland. Well I hope I’ll be able to do something respectful for all the money you are wasting on me.
Has Gibson started at the Tech yet tell me how he’s getting on. Does Dolly do copper work there. Did I tell you that John has gone back to war & has four days in the trenches & then four days rest. I had a letter from Mrs Hardy a few days ago & she said John was much older.
This will reach you before the cousins arrive. Will you send my letters to 13 Victoria Street, Westminster it would much better
