My dear Edith
I received your letter last Monday You see I have arrived at Waverley after spending a week with Miss Hilmer I took a run down to see Cora, they were rather disappointed that I only spent a day & half with them, I found them well & happy Coras three boys are little beauties altho the two eldest are a bit troublesome as [illeg] expected. I have been most fortunate in having fine weather I have only had one wet day & that was the day I spent in Ashurst. I had a grand time at Ohingaiti I was out every day except one either cycling or walking & there seemed to be so many places to go & such beautiful scenery, I could have spent a month there & it would not have been too long, Rasi [sic] said a week was far too short, I came back to Wanganui on Friday night & left for Waverley by the rail train next day Mrs Newland & La were there to meet me & I enjoyed the drive home it was a complete change of country air & everything. Yesterday we went out Whitebaiting & caught enough for breakfast but they are not as plentiful as they used to be, the Maoris catch them all & send them into Wanganui before they have time to reach this end of the river La & I are to drive to Waverley to day. I don’t think I will do any riding because I wont be here long enough to get over my stiffness & I think I might as well be comfortable I am afraid Mrs Newland is spoiling me here I get my breakfast in bed every morning. My fortnight is up on Wednesday but I will be glad of the few extra days thanks to your mother I will be home again on Saturday, I think the train arrives in Wanganui about five, I will be able to go home with Maud in the evening. Hoping you are all well
I remain with love Your loving friend
