Description
Black and white photograph of Victoria Avenue in Whanganui looking towards the Putiki hills and the Whanganui River. The street is unsealed, lined with wooden buildings, with a row of horse drawn carriages at the right foreground. In the centre of the image is the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Ridgway Street, prior to the installation of the Watt Fountain (installed in 1881). The early Post Office with clock tower is visible at the right.
