Frank Breuer

Biography
Frank Breuer (German, b.1963) studied under the notable photography professor Bernhard Becher at the Kunstakademie Dusseldorf. He was awarded a traveling grant in 2002 by the Kunststiftung NRW, in Dusseldorf, Germany. From 2003 to 2004, he was a visiting lecturer on visual and environmental studies at Harvard University. Breuer’s work has been exhibited widely, with solo exhibitions at Taubert Contemporary, Berlin (2011), Richard Levy Gallery, Albuquerque, NM (2008), McNamara Gallery, Wanganui, New Zealand (2008), the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis, MO (2007), Goethe Institut, Beijing and Hong Kong (2005), and Jousee Enterprise art contemporain, Paris (2005), among many others. His recent group exhibitions include Public Works at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago (2011), Planete Parr: La collection de Martin Parr at the Jeu de Paume, Paris (2009), and Reality Check: Truth and Illusion in Contemporary Photography at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2009). Breuer’s work is held in numerous public collections including those at Deutsche Bank, in Frankfurt, Germany, the Martin Z. Margulies Collection, in Miami, FL, Museum of Fine Arts, in Houston, TX, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, NY, the Saint Louis Art Museum, in Saint Louis, MO, and the Getty Museum, in Santa Monica, CA.
