Walter Dendy Sadler

Painter of anecdotal genre and costume pictures. Born 12 May 1854 in Dorking. Studied at Heatherley's Art School 1870–1 and at Düsseldorf under Burfield and Wilhelm Simmer 1871–7. Exhibited at the R.A. 1873–1914. First one-man exhibition at the Lefevre Gallery 1895. Lived in London until 1897, when he moved to Hemingford Grey, St Ives, Huntingdonshire, where he died 13 November 1923.
