Colour lithograph taken from a Burton Brothers photograph, titled "Dunedin, N.Z", an early view looking down towards the city from a hill to the west. The hills and harbour of the Otago peninsular can be seen in the background as well as prominent buildings like the First Church and Town Hall in the cityscape.
