Peter Peryer says of this work on his blog "In reality it is two halves of a house that was being relocated to this site. The blocks that they are sitting on are hidden in this view, slightly over the horizon." This is a quintesential example of Peryer's earlier landscape work, playing with the viewers sense of perspective and scale, reality and perception. Around this time in his career Peryer experimented with the Diana camera, which effected the exposure and grainy look of his images. To a certain extent, the Diana left exposure to chance and created a sense in the viewer that what was being seen could just as easily be a staged and forboding B-grade movie set scene as apposed to a mundane suburban or rural New Zealand landscape.
