Description
Framed landscape of Kawhia harbour with some trees in the foreground and hills/mountains in the background. Standard wooden frame, unpainted.
After her return from time spent in the United Kingdom, Edith spent a lot of her time carrying out family duties however made trips to Maketu Pa near Kawhia in 1927–28. Comparing these works to that of those landscapes made abroad, one can see the artists understanding of colour, light and her ability to capture a sense of place. It is very clear that works made in New Zealand reflect a landscape worlds apart from those created in Bonmahon for instance.
