Description
" Thie 'New Plymouth' view of Mount Taranaki from lake Mangamahoe is somehow compositionally tranformed from the picturesque to the iconic throught the keenly perceptive and always vigorously selective Peryer eye. The tree-fern in the foreground somehow hovers over Taranaki like an exotic South Pacific parasol shading the fresh blanket of snow from the midday sun. Made some time after the artist relocated to New Plymouth from Auckland it is one of the relatively small numver of images he has made that reflect physical landmarks of the Taranaki region over the past decade. And none could be more resonant."
