About the Work
An
Edwardian
bone
folding
fan
with
silk
satin
mount
or
leaf.
Note
the
joins
at
the
shoulder
and
on
the
guards
to
gain
the
length
required.
The
double
mount
is
painted
with
spray
of
flowers
in
gouache.
The
hand
painting
is
not
of
a
high
quality,
which
is
common
in
commercially
produced
fans
of
this
period.

Description
Purple silk fan with ivory sticks. Sticks and guards have no decoration, the silk is doubled mounted and undecorated except for hand painting of a spray of purple flowers and green leaves at the right end of the fan.
