Dear Edith,
As we are not told now when the mails leave we have to trust to luck to catch one. Perhaps you will get more letters this way as we write every week. You never say anything about the cold, but Hal seems to be feeling it very much. We had nice cheery letters from Jim this week. So thankful he is out of the fighting the wet & the mud. [illeg] seems to have settled down to a nice easy job. I am longing to hear that Hal has gone over to join him. Hal seems to have had the time of his life on his holiday. I hope Jim has as good a time as we had a cable from him in Jan. sending greetings from London. We had a letter from Jim this week & he says that when we get his letter to cable £10 to you in case he got leave, but I am waiting for his next letter as I think he will be telling me all about his trip. Did I tell you before that I got the lace collars Hal sent us. They are very nice, we will be leading the fashion. A, sending you a small book of views for your birthday next month. Hope Ref is still out of the firing line & Harry reaches old England safely. Its very nerve wracking these times. We spent the weekend at [illeg] & had a very pleasant time. Auntie Emma & Uncle Archie are going to Maungarauki [sp?] tomorrow, it will be a nice motor ride if it is fine, but we have so much wind lately. Well Edith I must close as it is very late. Kind regards to Harry. With Best Love from your Aunt Annie
