Sheep Hey
Aug 26th 1895

My dear Edith
I see by your letter it is holidays so you will have grand times in the new house & the Pony & Cows [illeg.] I can imagine you running about in all directions. I think nothing pleases so much as a pony, & I see you have three cows, so you will have plenty of butter & milk. We have kept various things, but we never had a cow & they are really useful & profitable now I will tell you our little news – Uncle Arthur & Aunt Marianne went on [sic] a tour in Germany this Saturday & two of the children came to our house & two remained at home but unfortunately Anton got very wet & kept his clothes on, so when Mama arrived the first thing to do was to send for the doctor, & Anton was very ill & very deaf for some weeks so think of this when you get wet – he is quite well now & they have gone to the sea side & Aunt Lydia is with them. I suppose you are quite a good little nurse for Mother, though I dare say you like playing the best. Tell Mother to keep up her spirits I think the [illeg.] will do well next year. Uncle Arthur hears of a [illeg.] [illeg.] for next season. With much love to you all from your
