‘Wakarua’
My dear Dorothy.
While you are in Wellington do you think you would have time to call for that wood engraving of [illeg.], as that [shop?] were [sic] mother bought the brass teapot. Would you bring it back for me please. You know that [illeg.] as [illeg.] what happened about it? Give my love to Hilda & tell her I am very sorry she couldn’t come up here while I was cook just to taste my bread.
The new cook is a success so far – she finds it quiet. I did a painting of the mountain from [illeg.] I was out there on my own Jack was carting pipes so

I had the plains to myself. Ask Hilda if she will come & stay at Mrs Peppers with me I had a good look round there & there is hundreds of lovely sketches, so what about you having some lessons
Gordon Pepper is very ill got much worse, they go in about 3 times a week to see him. Mrs Pepper was up here today she was very down about him. Hoping you are having a good time love from Edith

Gordan died last night. Mrs & Mr were with him. He is to be buried tomorrow in Taihape. He was in terrible pain right up to the last
