My dear Edith
I am sending you this beaded collar it was made by your Papa at the first [illeg.] school he went to, so I thought you would you would be pleased to have it. I think it is very nice beaded collar [illeg] you must tell me what you think of it. We have all enjoyed while [Herbert?] visit very much & shall feel very quiet when he is gone – I am sure Papa will be glad to see him back again, he will have been so very busy. I am sending you a little brooch & [illeg.] which I hope you will be pleased with. With kindest love to Papa & [illeg.] & all of you, from your affectionate Grandmother Lydia
PS: I have [illeg.] the collar & put fresh ribbon in it has been kept such a long time

Photocopy of a 4 page letter written to EMC from Edith’s Grandmother Lydia dated January 2nd year unknown. The letter is handwritten pen on paper. In the letter Edith’s Grandmother writes she is sending back a beaded collar that belonged to Edith’s father and a brooch for Edith.
