My dear Edith
I received your welcome letter some time ago, you will be thinking I am never going to answer it, better late than never I suppose your time is taken up considerably with your painting, I suppose at the end of the year your course of tuition will bcease [sic ?cease] as I understand your term was for two years, I shall be interested to hear of you having an appointment of some kind. Was pleased to get Theas letter to hear all the news, tell her it took me quite a long time to read it so Frank is going into the bank that will be a new departure has not taken to farming like the others.

Am glad to hear that Harry has quite recovered his health again he must have had a bad time I was much amused at your description of Jack & his trip up the mountain I can quite imagine him, what discomforture [sic] to be out all night Maude & her husband went up to Rotorua last Tuesday Maude is to stay away a month & have baths every day, to try to get the Rheumatism out of her system, she is pretty well I am glad to say We quite enjoyed Aunties visit to us at Easter, it was quite a surprise I never thought she would come such wet weather I suppose she told you of the dance we had in the woolshed, Hector & I were engaged in preparing the shed when Auntie & Uncle came through the gate I just peeped out to see what the dog was barking at & lo & behold there they were, imagine my surprise. So your father has a Motor Car I did not think he would be long without one, you will

be able to go to town in double quick time & no bother with horses. how lovely!!!! How is your Grandma keeping please remember me to her when you see her, is Gerty Morgan still with her. Ed you remember that Miss Mitchell that married Mr Laird – they have bought a farm up here & are going in for milking, she has two children going to school I never was as surprised in my life, she was going to school herself when I was living with you. poor me I am quite an old maid? We have been reading some of Lted [sic] Rudds books they are so funny you should have seen my Dad laugh he reads aloud for me while I sew, indeed we want something funny these dull evenings they seem so long with much love to you all
I remain your affectionate friend Emily Davis Dave
