Dear Mother and Father,
Thank you very much for letters & good wishes for birthday.
Ill try & answer your questions there are thousands & thousands of women over here who want to help & there is no room for them. I dont [sic] know if I could do anything (not knit) well anyhow the models that I had were poor I did all I could for them which isnt much. Your really see very few soldiers & of course never know when they go & you are not allowed on the stations when they are going, they just slip away & cross to France at night you hear nothing about them at all.

The great wedding is over I suppose I am sending A. Hunts a tray cloth too. I have got into the R.?A.S. Mayor Hussey wrote & said he would be pleased to give me a nomination I sent my work to him. I havent heard from the Royal Academy yet. I didnt [illeg.] Uncle H – had cabled for all that money for me, but I was very short & owed money. Thank you very much I wont waste as rent, they will tell you what I am doing, but if I try & exhibit I must have decent [illeg.] even if the paintings are not. I didnt see that about Mary Frazers I never see her except when I ask her to tea, she is always going to ask me out there, but never does Miss S – did ask me once, but she forgot all about it, Mary usually keeps you waiting before she [illeg.] [illeg.] up of course I am an old grannie to her. The German subs are getting a bit lively lately Uncle H is buying some of those life collers [?] you blow them up & tie them round your neck & they keep you up. They are quite small.
Well as I am going to write to Muriel Uncle Syd Mrs Strouts & Mrs Aiken & a few others, Send my love to all thank Vera & Daddy for the nice present they sent me & Thea for her short but sweet letter. Give my love to Grandma
Love to all
From your loving Daughter
