Biography
Formerly based in Dunedin Matthews is welcomed back to her home-town of Whanganui. She has a Masters in Art & Design, awarded by AUT in 2013 and has regularly exhibited in galleries throughout New Zealand.
Samantha Matthews’ aesthetic is one of quiet calm; tensions are built upon unnervingly clean lines, compositions and clever observations as she traverses New Zealand landscapes, documenting buildings and places ‘off the beaten track’. A view never seen before or perhaps just entirely overlooked- Matthews’ photographs compel us to look again.
