Grandson of Charles Decimus Barraud, son of Sidney Clark Barraud and his second wife, William Mowbray Barraud (known as Bim) became head of the New Zealand branch of the family after William Francis died in 1926. Bim spent all his working life in Levin and Co, stock and station agents, insurance, shipping and wool brokers, and wholesale groceries and liquor merchants. He was a talented painter who won prizes in numerous local exhibitions. He spent his retirement years on long painting holidays, touring by caravan with his wife, Phyllis (also a painter).
