Anneke Borren

Biography
Borren was born in Holland in 1946 and emigrated to New Zealand in 1963. She spent a year at the School of Fine Arts, Ilam, Christchurch, before studying ceramics in Holland, Denmark and Sweden.
In 1969 she set up her own ceramic studio in Paraparaumu, north of Wellington. Across the next two decades she studied ceramics in many countries - North America, Mexico, Central America, Java, Bali and Lombok. In 1994 she established 'Chez-Moi Pottery' studio at Paremata, Wellington.
During 1995/96 she worked as an assistant education officer at the Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt.
Anneke has held two terms as President of the New Zealand Society of Potters and exhibited widely both nationally and internationally. She was awarded a developmental grant from QE11 Arts Council and was artist-in-residence, Whanganui Polytech, in 1984.
Her work features in many publications and she is represented in private and corporate collections in Australia, Canada, Holland, Great Britain, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, and New Zealand.
