Description
Created not long after an his visit to America where he engaged with a vast array of contemporary art. He said of his art "I like people to wonder what it is about"
The beginnings of Don’s ‘mature’ style go back to the mid-1960s with low relief wall works, and 3D sculptures. These assemblages became more refined as the decade wore on before he turned to hard-edged abstract constructions and relief paintings.
From Paul Rayner's introduction to 'Don Driver Practical Magic', Sarjeant Gallery, 2002
