Description
After joining Rubbo's school in Sydney, Ellis became more dedicated to her painting and less so to her earlier pursuit of jewellery making. From 1935 to 1970 she exhibited regularly with the Australian Watercolour institute where this work was likely toi have been shown. Her works were shown with Antonio Datillo Rubbo,Roland Wakelin, Grace Cossington-Smtih, George Duncan, Douglas Dundas, Norman Lindsay, James Cook and Maude Sherwood, another New Zealander.
