About the Work
This work was produced as a result of Peter Ireland's 1995 Tylee Cottage residency. This painting is the first in a very definite series looking at the intersections of particular European artists and the construction of a New Zealand art history. The first series included artists such as immigrants James Nairn, Edward Fristrom and emigrants such as John Weeks and Flora Scales.
