Description
Large scale black and white photograph showing the 'Drop Scene' on the Whanganui River, with steep vertical cliffs covered in foliage and bush. In the foreground is a waka with 3 occupants, a man lying down resting, a man seated with a moustache and head scarf/cap, and another seated man, possibly Maori. The waka is tied to the bank. It is possible the man with moustache could be Thomas William Downes on one of his Whanganui River expeditions. The photograph is framed and glazed in a wide oak frame.
