Description
Black and white photograph mounted on cardboard with grey printed frame around the image. Photograph shows a large crowd assembled outside the front doors of the Sarjeant Gallery at Pukenamu Queen's Park. A temporary wooden platform is located in front of the steps and the then Prime Minister of New Zealand - the Right Honorable W.F. Massey - is standing at the front of the platform addressing the crowds. Two flagpoles flying the Union Jack are situated each side of the platform. A number of dignitaries are seated on the platform. Almost everyone present is wearing a hat. In the foreground is a pram and a small child looking at the photographer. The ground where everyone is standing appears to be sand rather than grass.
